El volumen se estima en metros c\u00fabicos, mientras que el peso se valora en toneladas m\u00e9tricas. As\u00ed, la f\u00f3rmula queda como FE=Volumen (m\u00b3)\/Peso (TM). De esta forma, si el factor de estiba es una cifra superior a 1, entonces el flete se calcular\u00e1 con base en el volumen de la carga, no en su peso. Por supuesto, esto puede negociarse con el transportista, pero depender\u00e1 de cada situaci\u00f3n individual.
